Throwing a Sports Baby Shower for a couple who loves sports will put you in a league of your own.  This shower theme works well for a couple or family baby shower.

1.  Choose a location.  Since this shower has an athletic twist to it, consider hosting the shower in a recreational facility or at a park.  When planning the baby shower games, organize them using park or recreational equipment and sports areas, such as baseball field, tennis court, or basketball goal.  Even if you don’t use the equipment, after the formalities of the Sports Baby Shower have ceased, your guests can play ball.

 2.  Create an invitation or purchase invitations.  You can make personalized invitations on your computer, featuring a picture of the expectant couple at their favorite sporting event or engaging in an athletic activity.  Also, invitations with a sports theme can be personalized and purchased online.

On the invitation, request that guests where sports team paraphernalia.  Sports fans will love an opportunity to show off their team spirit by wearing their favorite jersey or baseball cap.

 3.  Decorate with sports and babies in mind.  You can decorate the party area with sporting equipment.  Place miniature footballs, baseballs, basketballs, soccer balls, and volleyballs around the room.  You can place the balls in baby dolls laps or prop up the baby dolls on the balls.  Various sports banners can be found at party stores, if you’d like to use these for more color.

 4.  Plan active games.  You must have games at a baby shower, so why not make them athletic?  You can plan Olympic style games.  Have couples race to one end of the room or field to diaper a football or a baby doll.  Have a partners from couples stand on opposite ends of the game area and try to squirt the contents of the beverage into their partner’s mouth.  Award medals at the end of each event.

Sports fans will have a ball at this Sports Baby Shower. Use your imagination to blend the excitement of the future baby and the enthusiasm generated by sports to throw a fun-filled baby shower.
